Year of the Rooster Teapot
Year of the Rooster Teapot – By Andy Huang (Hwang Jeng-daw) produced in November of 2004. There are only 25 of these collectors’ edition teapots available for sale in the US.

Specifications:
6 ½” tall, 3” wide, 4 ½” in depth, 12 oz. volume. Inscribed with the words Taiwan Qi Ji; a play on words that has the double meaning “Taiwan’s economic miracle” and “Taiwan’s strange chicken”

Features:
Eyes move in their sockets, crown is made of yellow clay, non-drip beak allows for flawless pouring, packaged in snug fitting silk wrapped wooden box, each pot is sealed with Andy’s stamp and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Idea behind the Rooster:
Andy is very proud that his country is so small in size, yet manages to make its mark in the international community. He chose the chicken to represent Taiwan because the chicken is not a strong animal, in his words,

“Taiwan is so small. If the world is a zoo, it is probable that Taiwan is a chicken, for its size, it does very well. Taiwan’s oolong is the best in the world and well recognized.”
